Entercom Radio to host Children’s Hospital Radiothon

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Entercom Radio will broadcast live from the lobby of Greenville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 14th through Friday, October 16, 2009 to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Hospital of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS).

This is Entercom’s second year hosting the Children’s Hospital Radiothon, which will feature stories of hope and inspiration told by patients of GHS Children’s Hospital and their families. During the first year of Entercom's participation over $210,000 was raised, an all time record for this event in Greenville.

“Entercom is thrilled to host the Children’s Hospital Radiothon and to do our part to help ensure the children in our community get the care they need and deserve,” said Entercom Vice President and Market Manager John Burkavage.

Money raised from the Radiothon will go directly to Children’s Hospital and be used to purchase a variety of items, including toys, books, music, diapers and even scholarships to send children with cancer to camp.

“These items and others play an important part in making a patient’s stay at Children’s Hospital more comfortable,” said Dr. Bill Schmidt, medical director of Children’s Hospital. “We couldn’t help so many children without the support of our community and partners like Entercom.”

The Radiothon will air on Entercom’s five Upstate stations (B93.7, Magic 98.9, New Rock 93.3, Rock 101 and News Radio 106.3) between 12noon and 6 p.m. on Oct. 14th, and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 15th & 16th.
